lemon ginger cake with raspberries and lemon cream cheese frosting.
Angel's party. Drinking all afternoon into evening. home brew. eating cake. barbeque. potato salads. pinata of lube and booze. stepping in dog shit. mellow stream of people filtering in and out. inviting other friends to help finish the kegs (4 kegs!) dance party. it was a fun saturday, well worth taking the day off. why can't parties like this happen more often?

i thought this looked kind of x rated when i first saw it made at work, and now that i see it in photo form, i know it is. carmelized banana in a scoop of ice cream. if it's still hot, the banana slides into the cone. NC-17 ice cream.
whoa.

i started this a year ago today. happy sept 11. i've obviously had a hard time keeping up with the whole blogging concept. i've been keeping busy with work and painting, which seem to be the only things that keep me going on a consistent basis.
sf living is slowly taking it's toll on me. my road rage on my bike flares without warning. my annoyance with customers has reached a plateau. rent is high. the city is loud. but not all is bad. this is an entertaining and interesting place to live. there is usually something to do. i've met lots of exciting people. gone to cool shows. biked some hills. absorbed some culture which my hometown in the valley lacked. life is good overall. and there's the fog, which i love. even during the summer.
my new thing to do is to paint pictures of friends without asking them if it's ok first. it's not to con them in to buying a painting, but rather a way to be excited and secretive about an idea and it's relatively easy to come up with a subject. so i'll be posting pictures of those paintings here.

this is my shadow and someone else's shadow on a field trip to straus and cowgirl creamery. it was awesome. best field trip ever. a beautiful day in pt. reyes.
lately i've been having a rough time. i'm recuperating from carpal tunnel, a cold, and a lot of other stressors. my car needs to be fixed, my rear bike tire was stolen (now fixed thanks to box dog bikes), and i broke my digital camera. so no new pictures for me.
i signed up for open studios in may. i'm excited about it but i need to figure out what i can do besides painting that doesn't hurt my wrist. lame. hopefully i'll have something more cheerful to write about next time.

about a month ago i went to chicago with my parents. this was one of the few times smiles happened on our trip. we were all frustrated with each other. it felt like i was being treated like a teenager, and so i acted like one. my dad struggled with his hearing loss and my mom with the fear of getting lost. actually we all struggled with these things by default.
the trip was rather uneventful, as i found chicago to be a dull city. the whole time i was there i kept wondering, "why do people live here? what am i missing?" the food was good and the people portly.
